ARGEMS LTD was proudly established in the UK in 2023 by Mohamed Kamel, a passionate gemstone enthusiast and fourth-generation gemstone trader. With roots tracing back to 1950, Mohamed’s family has been deeply involved in the gemstone trade for over 70 years.
Mohamed began his journey into the world of gemstones at the young age of 12, inspired and encouraged by his uncle and other relatives who were trading gems on the streets of the world-renowned gemstone markets of Beruwala, China Fort, and Kalutara in Sri Lanka.
After leaving school, Mohamed joined Zam Gems – one of Sri Lanka’s most respected and internationally recognised gemstone and jewellery companies – where he honed his skills as a gemstone salesman. After three years, he emigrated to the UK to pursue his dream of bringing the finest Sri Lankan gemstones to the British and European markets.
Starting by selling gemstones within his circle of friends and colleagues, Mohamed built a strong reputation for quality, trust, and authenticity. In 2023, with the support of his family and relatives in Sri Lanka, ARGEMS LTD was officially founded.
